Mini wire rope hoist or electric chain hoist: what should a buyer specify?
A PA mini wire rope hoist and an electric chain hoist are distinct product families. The right enquiry starts with the load, lift and operating requirement, then asks for a model that matches them. Choosing only by the largest capacity number can miss differences in configuration, electrical supply and installation.
Start with the lifting medium and model
The PA family uses wire rope; the HHBB family uses load chain. State the model family you are requesting and attach an existing nameplate when replacing equipment. Do not assume that a similarly sized chain hoist can use the same mounting or control arrangement as a wire rope hoist. Ask for the drawing and complete model designation with the quotation.
Specify capacity and usable lifting height together
Provide the required load and lifting height as a pair. Where a PA catalogue lists single-line and double-line configurations, their capacity, lifting speed and available travel must be read as separate configurations. Do not combine the capacity from one column with the speed or height from another. For a chain hoist, confirm the requested chain length and the exact model rating.
Confirm the electrical supply
Give the destination country, available voltage, frequency and phase. Include the plug or connection arrangement if applicable, and state the control requirement. Country alone is not a complete electrical specification: the installation supply must be confirmed. Optional controls or a trolley should be identified separately so the buyer knows what is included in the quoted assembly.
Describe the work pattern and installation
Tell the supplier how the hoist will be used, including the expected lifting cycle, environment, mounting and available headroom. Ask for the model-specific duty information and instructions. A product demonstration video can show visible components or controls, but does not establish a rated operating cycle, certification or the suitability of a complete installation.
Compare the supplied package
A complete purchase description should identify the hoist, suspension or mounting arrangement, trolley if requested, controls, power configuration, lift height, instructions and agreed documents. For repeat distributor orders, request clear model identification and a packing list. Spare-parts and service requirements should be discussed for the selected model rather than assumed for every product in the family.
Quotation checklist
Send the model or product family, required rated load, lifting height, power supply, duty requirement, mounting details, control arrangement, quantity and destination. Add a drawing or photo of the installation where compatibility needs review. Review the resulting model specification and instructions before ordering; neither family is universally interchangeable with the other.
